Biography
Hyo Jin (Jamie) Park, a flutist born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, moved to Boston, USA, to pursue her education at both Walnut Hill School for the Arts and the New England Conservatory Preparatory School, studying under Judy Grant, founder of the Boston Flute Academy. She began her undergraduate studies at the Peabody Conservatory, where she studied with world-renowned flutist Marina Piccinini, before transferring to the New England Conservatory, where she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees under Cynthia Meyers of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. She later completed her Graduate Certificate at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music, studying with Catherine Ransom Karoly of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
Throughout her training, Hyo Jin was awarded scholarships to attend summer festivals and flute intensives, where she studied with internationally acclaimed artists such as Jim Walker and Jeanne Baxtresser. She has also performed in masterclasses for many of today’s leading flutists, including Jeanne Baxtresser, Paula Robinson, Jim Walker, John Heiss, Carol Wincenc, Leone Buyse, Elizabeth Rowe, Emi Ferguson, Marianne Gedigian, Keith Underwood, and Robert Dick.
Hyo Jin served as the Principal Flutist of the Korail Symphony in South Korea before returning to the United States for graduate study. She has won numerous awards, including the National Arts Competition and the Seoul National Symphony Competition, and has performed as a soloist with esteemed orchestras such as the Seoul National Orchestra and the Moscow Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed chamber music at Jordan Hall with a variety of musicians and instruments, including legendary guitarist Eliot Fisk.
In addition to her performing career, Hyo Jin is a passionate and devoted educator, teaching many students who have gone on to perform on prestigious stages such as Carnegie Hall, as well as achieving first prizes in numerous national and international competitions.
As the co-founder of Trio Le Bois, she continues to actively perform throughout Southern California. Her trio performed at Carnegie Hall and also appeared at Disney Hall in Los Angeles.
