Biography
Dongwon, or Jake is a dedicated pianist and educator currently pursuing a Master of Music in Piano Performance at the University of Southern California under Kevin Fitz-Gerald, where he is a recipient of the Percy Faith Award and the Herklotz Music Scholarship. He holds a Bachelor of Music from Oberlin Conservatory, where he studied with Haewon Song and was a Dean’s List Scholarship recipient.
With extensive private teaching experience, he is passionate about guiding students of all levels. Jake has studied the classical repertoire extensively, with a deep passion for the works of Schumann, Beethoven, and Rachmaninoff with additional background in historical performance on the harpsichord. He has performed at prestigious venues in the U.S., Spain, and South Korea. He has participated in renowned festivals to further his studies with world-class pianists from Oberlin, New England Conservatory, Michigan University, Northwestern University, and many more.
Outside of music, he enjoys tennis, cooking, and exploring nature.
